Workplace health you can measure.

Get your company moving together: with the Ligaroo company challenge your people earn points with their favourite sport and compete as a team, whatever their site or fitness level. We measure participation and activity rate as group figures from 5 people, not the health of individuals. Your workplace health management builds on that.

Never individual data. The company only sees groups of 5 or more. We put that in every contract.
No jobs based on fitness data.Training data never decides on jobs, promotions or offers.
Independent.Every sport counts, no gym network, open prices.

Why exercise at work pays off

€134 bnlost production from sick days in Germany in one year, according to the federal institute BAuA
around 25%fewer absences through workplace health promotion on average, return of about 1 : 2.7 (iga.Report 28)
150 minutesof moderate activity per week is what the WHO recommends. Only 43% of women and 48% of men met the endurance recommendation (RKI, GEDA 2014/15)
less is moreA few well-run measures make employers almost as attractive as a broad programme (iga.Report 49, 2026)

Sources: KBV based on BAuA · iga.Report 28 · RKI · iga.Report 49. Important: these figures describe the general research on workplace health promotion, not a Ligaroo result. What we measure for you is participation and activity rate. Studies also show that apps alone are often dropped quickly, while programmes with several components and personal support work better (iga.Report 40). That’s why we combine a league, people and measures.

A cycle instead of one-off campaigns

Most offers on the market are a single piece: a gym network, a step challenge or a survey. We connect everything into one cycle. Each point honestly shows whether it is live or still coming.

  1. 01

    Spot the need

Anonymous pulse surveys: how are you, what weighs on you, what do you want? Back health, stress, sleep, exercise, formats and times.

    • planned pulse surveys, anonymous from 5 people (2027)
    • vision results as input for the psychological risk assessment
  2. 02

    Move

The Ligaroo company challenge: every sport counts, teams compete by active rate, beginners have a real chance.

    • in development monthly challenge and annual league from 1 January 2027, pilot now
    • live browser app, in many languages
  3. 03

    Arrange measures

What the survey shows becomes an offer: a kick-off with the pro, a running group, a back class with local partners.

    • live kick-off, talk or finale with Jan Höing
    • planned courses and local partners, health days
    • vision the right measure straight from the survey result
  4. 04

    Show the impact

Figures instead of gut feeling: how many people move, how is it developing, which measure worked?

    • in development anonymous report after every challenge, from January 2027
    • in development health cockpit with department comparison (early 2027)
    • vision anonymous comparison with your industry

Workplace health at a glance: what’s mandatory and where we help

MANDATORY FOR ALLOccupational safetyRisk assessment under § 5 ArbSchG, explicitly including psychological stress, documented under § 6. Regardless of company size.We help: anonymous surveys as a basis (planned)
MANDATORY FOR ALLReintegration (BEM)After more than 6 weeks of incapacity within 12 months, the employer must offer reintegration management (§ 167(2) SGB IX).Stays with you: we deliberately provide no individual data for this.
VOLUNTARYHealth promotion (BGF)Individual measures for healthy behaviour and healthy work: exercise, courses, talks, health days.We help: company challenge, kick-off with Jan, local partners
THE ROOFHealth management (BGM)The process above it all: assess needs, set goals, implement measures, measure impact. And start again. We help: the cycle above, with a cockpit

Not legal advice, just an overview. Note: the often-cited DIN SPEC 91020 on workplace health management was withdrawn in 2020; there is no longer a “certificate” based on it.

Tax: honest, not sugar-coated

€600 tax-free, but not for everythingUnder § 3 No. 34 EStG up to €600 per person and year is tax-free if paid in addition to salary and meeting the quality requirements of §§ 20, 20b SGB V: certified courses or measures in a workplace health process, with proof of participation.
What doesn’t qualifyGym and sports club fees, cash grants. On 4 March 2026 the Bavarian State Tax Office clarified that the prevention share of corporate fitness programmes is not tax-free under § 3 No. 34 either. Nor is a league on its own.
Rewards up to €50 a monthNon-cash prizes for winners may fall under the €50 monthly benefit-in-kind limit (§ 8(2) sentence 11 EStG). Note: it’s a threshold, not an allowance. If exceeded, the whole amount is taxable.

We don’t promise tax exemptions that don’t exist. Please check every case with your tax adviser.

Data protection and works council: at the table from day one

ANONYMOUSGroups of 5+Analyses only for groups of 5 or more, for surveys on psychological stress 10 or more if you like. No filters that make individuals identifiable.
WORKS COUNCILTake co-determination seriouslyUnder § 87(1) No. 6 and 7 BetrVG the works council usually has to be involved. We present the data protection concept and anonymity rules. A template works agreement is in preparation.
SERVERSData in FrankfurtThe Ligaroo database is in Frankfurt am Main. Employees sign up and consent themselves.
CLEAR LINEHealth stays privateNo sickness data, no individual profiles for the employer, no jobs based on fitness data.

Who it’s made for

20 to 250 employeesToo big for “we’ll do it on the side”, too small for a health management department. Up to 9 employees Ligaroo is free.
Shifts, production, care, logisticsWhere gym flat rates don’t fit: everyone trains when and where it suits them, and every sport counts.
Many languages, many sitesThe app speaks many languages, sites and departments compete against each other.

Employees, net per month, no minimum term. A fixed price by company size instead of a price per active person, because paying per active user gives you no reason to promote the challenge. The annual league costs the same monthly price, with extras instead of a discount. Kick-off, talk or health day with Jan Höing on request. Most providers on the market don’t publish prices at all.

FAQ on workplace health and company challenges

Is workplace health management worth it for small companies?
Yes, especially there. In Germany the risk assessment including psychological stress is mandatory for every business, whatever its size. And studies show that a few well-run measures work almost as well as a broad programme. With Ligaroo, companies with up to 9 employees pay nothing, up to 50 employees €149 a month.
What does it cost per employee?
We charge a fixed monthly price by company size instead of a per-head price. With 50 employees that’s €149 a month, just under €3 per person. Kick-offs, talks or health days can be added as you wish.
Is the company challenge tax-free under German law (§ 3 No. 34 EStG)?
No, and we say so openly. Only benefits paid in addition to salary that meet the requirements of §§ 20, 20b SGB V are tax-free up to €600 a year, i.e. certified courses or measures within a workplace health process, with proof of participation. A league alone doesn’t qualify. Rewards for employees may fall under the €50 monthly benefit-in-kind limit. Always check with your tax adviser.
What does the company see, and what not?
The company only sees group figures for groups of 5 or more: active rate, participation and trend. It never sees who trained when or how. For surveys on psychological stress we recommend groups of 10 or more and no filters that would single people out.
Does the works council have to agree?
If you have one, as a rule yes. Under German works constitution law (§ 87(1) No. 6 BetrVG) it is enough that a system could be suitable for monitoring, and health surveys touch No. 7. So we involve the works council from the start and prepare documents for a works agreement.
Is a psychological risk assessment mandatory?
Yes. Since 2013 § 5 ArbSchG explicitly requires psychological stress to be assessed, for all businesses regardless of size, and § 6 requires documentation. It assesses working conditions, not the psyche of individuals. Anonymous pulse surveys can provide a basis for it.
What is the difference between BGM, BGF and occupational safety?
Occupational safety is a legal duty. Workplace health promotion (BGF) means individual measures such as courses or an exercise challenge. Workplace health management (BGM) is the process above it: assess needs, set goals, implement measures, measure impact. It also includes reintegration management (BEM).
How do we plan a health day?
Ideally based on need: first ask what your staff want, then offer two or three things that really get used, followed by something that keeps going, such as a company challenge. You can book a health day with a talk by pro triathlete Jan Höing with us.
What about employees who don’t do sport?
Ligaroo is built for exactly them. Walking, cycling to work or gardening count, and the formula rewards regularity, not peak performance. Teams are ranked by active rate, so beginners have a real chance.
How much work is it for HR?
Very little: we provide invitation texts, a kick-off template and the anonymous report. Employees sign up themselves, and the app runs in the browser on any phone, in many languages.
